Catholic Apologetics
Apologetics: The defense of the teaching and credentials of the Church. A little more than three years ago a small group of parishioners from Our Lady of Lourdes decided that they wanted to have a weekly “Bible” study class. But Catholisism does not accept that the Bible is the sole source (sola scriptura) of God’s revelation to man. The Church teaches that there are three sources and no one of them can stand without the others. These are: Sacred Tradition, Sacred Scriptures, and the Magisterium of the Church, (Catechism of the Catholic Church #95). Therefore, we decided that our class would be open to any questions about our Catholic faith; that it would not be a lecture type class but an “open forum” where anyone could ask anything about Catholic teaching, if no one present could provide an answer, the group would research it and find an anser from authentic Catholic documents. For the first year and a half we met in each others homes, but this was sometimes inconvenient. So our Pastor, Fr. Bill, kindly gave us permission to meet in the conference room in the Ministries Building, where we have been meeting for the last year and a half. Our class is open to anyone of any faith who is interested in learning about Catholisism. We meet every Friday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. All are welcome.
